SUCHI (Supply Chain Internal Management System) is a fully web-based interactive system that allows Zamil Steel PEB’s worldwide locations to work on unified Global and Standard Application as well as the capability to integrate seamlessly in executing internal supply chain transactions and controlling associated business processes. It was implemented at Zamil Steel Saudi, initially and after three years of hard work, it is currently being implemented in Zamil Steel Vietnam (ZSV) concurrently with two other regional satellite manufacturing facilities of Zamil Steel in India and already running for Zamil Steel Ras al Khaimah.
SUCHI encompasses the planning and management of all activities involved from Sales to Shipping activities. It also includes the crucial components of coordination and collaboration within internal and external departments. With templates acquired from Saudi Arabia and customized to Zamil Steel Vietnam environment, business processes are consolidated from loosely coupled information by using one core Oracle ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) system that is further localized to suit different requirements. Some functions of SUCHI includes 1) Customer requirement processing, 2) Order processing, 3) and Production management.
The objective of implementing SUCHI is to reduce time-to-site, to implement changes quickly, and to integrate all factories with each other swiftly at minimal additional IT infrastructure cost. An added benefit also comes with the fact that this programme will be able to help the company reduce capitalization expenditure, operating, maintenance and support costs.
“Zamil Steel’s main production facilities are based in Dammam, Saudi Arabia with additional factories located and operating in Egypt, UAE, India and Vietnam. Zamil Steel faces a big challenge of connecting more than 800 engineers across engineering departments in Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Egypt, Vietnam and India. With Zamil Steel exports now reaching more than 90 markets and deriving over 40% of our revenues from outside Saudi, we need to invest in the right technology to align processes, supply chains and consolidate operations,” Mr Pham Le Cuong, Zamil Steel Vietnam IT Manager said.
With the central Zamil ITG (Information Technology Global) supporting the SUCHI’s platform, it not only empowers ZSV IT department to put itself into a more matured position to deliver IT and services to the group’s business units faster, cheaper and at a higher quality, but it also gives technology the chance to demonstrate clear ROI (Return of Investment) to the business by helping Zamil Steel increase its service delivery capabilities for the global business environment.
Zamil Industrial Investment Company is a conglomerate with many global operations - a publicly listed joint stock company after a merger in 1998 of Zamil’s three leading companies - Zamil Steel, Zamil Air Conditioners and Zamil Glass. It is also the major shareholder of Zamil Steel Vietnam.
