Each employee represents ZSV to its customers, suppliers, visitors, and the public in general. ZSV believes in abiding with the applicable laws and respecting customs and religions in territories where it conducts its business.
 
Zamil Steel Vietnam is committed to the following standards:

While regulations may vary from territory to territory, Zamil Steel Vietnam expects its employees and others acting on its behalf to comply with all laws and with ZSV policies. Employees who violate a law or Zamil Steel Vietnam’s Corporate/Administrative and Personnel Policies are subject to appropriate disciplinary measures, up to and including the termination of employment.

The Company  believes that every employee hired has a potential in contributing positively to the success of Zamil Steel Vietnam. Because of this, Zamil Steel Vietnam shall endeavor to create a proactive and constructive work environment, using abilities of employees in the best possible manner, while promoting a healthy work-life balance.
 
All jobs are considered equally important, because each employee's output contributes to the productivity of his colleagues and to the achievement of ZSV objectives.

 Relationships and Ethical Business Conduct 
Creating a culture of ethical business conduct built on integrity and honesty may at times require more than strictly complying with the law. Where there are no laws governing certain activities, each employee is expected to uphold the standards set by ZSV that upholds an unwavering commitment to integrity in all its dealings.
 
In maintaining business relationships with external entitles, the following shall apply:
 
Government. The company shall comply with relevant Government laws, rules and regulations.
Suppliers and Contractors. Vendors and contractors shall be allowed to compete for ZSV business on an equal basis, in the interest of fairness and value-added to the company.   ZSV shall fulfill its commitments to suppliers and contractors promptly and fairly as it expects suppliers and contractors to do the same.
General Public. Transactions will be characterized by fairness, attaining customer satisfaction, and performing ZSV responsibilities.
Among Employees.   Zamil Steel Vietnam is a multicultural environment embracing employees of various ethnic, linguistic, and cultural backgrounds. It therefore encourages employees to appreciate and embrace strength in diversity and unity in purpose and action.  
 
Employees are expected to conduct themselves with professionalism and decorum; professional relationships shall always take precedence in the work environment.  

 Employee Work Week
Zamil Steel Vietnam implements a forty-eight (48) hour workweek for its offices and production sites within Vietnam and other territories where it operates. The working hours are generally spread from Mondays to Saturdays. Departments, in consultation with and the approval of the General Director,  are given the option to implement working schedules on a 5.5-day or six-day scheme based on operating requirements and business contingencies.
 
 Health, Safety and Environment
It is the philosophy of Zamil Steel Vietnam that employees are adequately trained in order to maintain safety at all times. ZSV has in-house safety officers to enforce safety rules; all employees are required employees to use proper methods and equipment to perform their jobs safely.
 
It is company policy to comply with all relevant HS&E laws and regulations, and with production process-specific HS&E guidelines. The company implements all reasonable safety and security measures and provides appropriate safety equipment such as hats, shoes, goggles, gloves, and earplugs to employees in the production site.
 
The company ensures that no operational shortcuts shall be taken and encourages that appropriate safety and health considerations are incorporated into daily job duties and business decisions. 
 
 Employee Discipline and Grievances
In keeping with its commitment to professionalism, the company puts discipline into effect as a key component in creating and maintaining a productive work environments and harmonious relationships within and outside the ZSV. 
 
ZSV's disciplinary measures are a framework by which discipline is upheld while maintaining fairness in the treatment of employees. Employees are given due process in the application of disciplinary measures, and such measures are applied only in cases where good reason and clear evidence exist.
 
ZSV rules and regulations are spelled out in various forms (published, on-line and during employee discussion)  so that there will be a uniform understanding and acceptance of rules and appropriate disciplinary measures. Disciplinary sanctions, as applicable, are at all times administered in accordance with the provisions of the relevant Labor Laws.
 
It is ZSV policy to acknowledge the right of every employee to have genuine grievances resolved as early as possible, and to deal with such problems and grievances while they are still small. 
 
The company adheres to a strict policy prohibiting retaliation against employees who raise a grievance or reports suspected violations in corporate policy, as well as for those who cooperate in a ZSV investigation in relation with these matters.
 
 Benefits

Housing

As part of each employment contract, Zamil Steel Vietnam shall provide housing allowances or furnished housing accommodation of adequate standard. Accommodation shall be assigned to employees based on job grade, seniority, and availability.
 
While the type of ZSV-provided accommodation may vary somewhat among the three member-Companies, the ZSV adheres to the principle of providing decent housing and food to each employee.
 
The following facilities, services and items are provided and paid for by the ZSV as an integral part of the accommodation supplied to employees:
  • Water, both potable and for sanitation purposes
  • Electricity
  • Heating and air conditioning
  • Fire fighting and fire detection equipment
  • Food
  • Furniture, fixtures and fittings (The inventory varies according to the type of accommodation provided)
Transportation

Bus/Shuttle Services: Employees, whose work are located in the manufacturing premises in both Noi Bai in Hanoi and Amata in Dong Nai Province, are provided bus services from pre-set pick-up points to their job sites and back.
 
Transportation Allowance: All local employees in Vietnam qualify for a transportation allowance.
 
Health Care
The health and well-being of employees and of their authorized dependents are of utmost importance to the ZSV.   Zamil Steel Vietnam maintains an in-house clinical facility both in its Noi Bai and Amata plants and nominates qualified medical service providers to employees and qualified dependents.
 
Medical Insurance
 
Coverage for Expatriate employees. All expatriate employees are enrolled into the Zamil Industrial Group Insurance coverage which provides for all normal emergency medical attention, general practitioner examination, referred specialist examination, hospitalization (both in-patient and out-patient) including all necessary surgical treatment, prescribed radiography, prescribed medication, and essential laboratory or other examinations.
 
For dental services, the medical insurance pays only for the cost of tooth extraction. In terms of optometric needs, optometric testing is covered but not corrective lenses or other ophthalmic services. Illnesses, conditions or disabilities that pre-exist employment and accidents (e.g. sporting injuries) that could have been prevented by due care on the part of the employee are excluded from medical benefits coverage. This likewise applies to treatments that are self-prescribed in nature, preventive without approval, or cosmetic in effect.
 
Coverage for Local employees. ZSV provides for all statutory requirements on medical service  coverage and benefits resulting from industrial injury through the Social Insurance Scheme and the Workmen’s Compensation respectively. In addition, the company provides supplemental medical insurance coverage for qualified employees and dependents giving them access to a range of medical service providers within the various cities in Vietnam where the company has business presence.
 
Vacations and Leaves

ZSV lets employees enjoy paid vacations to attend to their personal and family matters. ZSV likewise provide appropriate medical leaves. ZSV also observes all official holidays whether set by pertinent government regulations or as dictated by the general practice in the territories where the company operates.
 
Vacation leave: The company offers different terms of annual vacation leave relative to position, job grade, contractual status and length of service with the company while ensuring that these terms are consistent with the intent of the Labor Law of Vietnam.
 
ZSV employees get a minimum of 12 days of paid leave per year as stipulated by the Labor Law. In all other territories, the minimum number days of annual vacation leave as set by the respective countries’ labor laws are provided.
 
Expatriate employees generally get 30 days per annum, inclusive of travel time, or as specified in their employment contract.
 
Other Forms of Paid Leave: The company grants other forms of paid personal leave of three (3) days with the option of seven (7) additional days without pay in the following cases:
  • In the event of wedding of the employee; in the case of the wedding of the employee’s child, the company grants a one-day leave.
  • In the event of death of the employee’s immediate family (spouse, children, parents and parents-in-law).
